Kybella: Non-Invasive Treatment for Submental Fullness

Excess fat under the chin, known as submental fullness or a “double chin,” can detract from the balance, harmony, and proportions of your face and neck. This frustrating bulge of fat can impact almost anyone, regardless of fitness level, and is most commonly the result of a combination of aging, genetics, and lifestyle habits. Unfortunately, unlike other areas of the body, the neck and jawline are nearly impossible to firm or tone with diet or exercise.

Traditionally, improving the contour of the neck and jawline was only possible through surgery. While submental liposuction and/or neck lift surgery are still the best options for achieving dramatic improvement in this area through removal of pockets of fat and tightening of sagging skin, there is a new, minimally invasive option for those who aren’t quite ready for surgery: Kybella®.

“I cannot thank you enough for the amazing treatment! You went several extra miles with everything you did—and the care with which you approached it.” Read more Patient Testimonials

How Kybella Can Help Reduce Fat Under Your Chin

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable solution composed of a non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid. This molecule naturally occurs in the human body to help with absorption and breakdown of dietary fat, making it an ideal solution for treating submental fullness without surgery.

When expertly injected into areas of excess fat under the chin, Kybella safely and effectively destroys fat cells, rendering them incapable of accumulating fat in the future and providing you with results that will last. Kybella is ideal for treating moderate to severe submental fullness. Treatment results in a more attractive contour between the head and neck and a smoother, more youthful looking jawline.

Kybella Treatment & Recovery

Treatment with Kybella typically takes around 30 minutes and is performed in our office. After your treatment, you will be able to resume your normal activities, though you may experience slight swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites. Up to six treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart may be performed, though many of our patients are pleased with their results after two to four treatments. The best treatment course for you will depend on your natural facial structure and the severity of submental fullness that needs to be corrected; Dr. Pastorek and Janice will work closely with you to determine the best treatment plan to meet your needs during your consultation.

If you are curious about Kybella or would like to schedule a consultation to discuss your options, please contact our office today.
