Rosacea Redness Getting Worse — Can excel® V Help?

Rosacea Redness Getting Worse — Can excel® V Help?

Rosacea can come with a wide range of unwelcome symptoms, from skin tenderness to pimple-like bumps. But perhaps none is more bothersome than its telltale redness. If you’re tired of walking around looking flushed, we have a solution.

At our offices on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City and in Madison, Connecticut, Norman J. Pastorek, MDJanice Pastorek, BSN, RN, and our team tailor rosacea treatment to you. That could mean using an option like Laser Genesis treatment, but today we want to introduce you to an alternative: excel® V. This laser-based treatment specifically targets redness.

What sets excel V apart

The big difference-maker with excel V comes down to its laser technology. While a lot of other treatments use a single laser, excel V comes with two. This dual laser system allows us to customize your treatment to target your rosacea redness.

Specifically, with the 532 nm laser, we can target redness near the surface of your skin, while the 1064 nm Nd: YAG allows us to address redness from deeper blood vessels. Plus, the dual lasers allow us to use excel V to effectively treat discoloration in a wide range of skin tones.

Because of this innovative blend of technology, medical aesthetics experts are hailing excel V as an exciting, effective option for people with rosacea.

What to expect with this rosacea treatment

If you’re considering a laser-based treatment to address your rosacea redness, you’ll be glad to know that these appointments are generally relatively quick. Treating your reddened areas with excel V usually takes around 15 minutes.

This laser technology was designed with your comfort in mind. It features a cooling system to soothe your skin as it goes to work. You might feel a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin, but any discomfort should be over extremely quickly.

You’ll have some redness and swelling after treatment, but there’s no recovery period with excel V. Most people get back to their normal routine the very next day — or even the same afternoon, if you don’t mind the swelling or redness.

You should see some improvement within about a month after your first excel V treatment, with your full results visible in six months. Most people opt for a series of treatments — usually around three — to best minimize their rosacea redness.

If you’re curious about this treatment or want to explore your options for addressing your rosacea symptoms, visit our team. We can create a personalized plan for your unique skin. To get started, call either of our offices or book your appointment online today.
