Facial Plastic Surgeons located in New York, NY & Madison, CT
Committed to offering patients the newest effective skin rejuvenation treatments, facial plastic surgeon Norman Pastorek, MD, and Janice Pastorek, BSN, RN, are happy to introduce PRX Derm Perfexion. This treatment incorporates trichloracetic acid (TCA) 33% which normally is a medium-strength peel, in a way it is formulated to NOT cause peeling. Think of it as a non-injectable bio-revitalizer that induces a dermal bio-stimulation without harming the skin. It has been used for years as a non-peeling treatment for children with chickenpox scars. PRX Derm Perfexion is revolutionary for correcting facelift scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, dark pigmentation, lore pores, and sagging skin. At our practice, we often pair the PRX treatment with additional aesthetic treatments such as microneedling with/or without radio frequency, Clear and Brilliant laser, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Lightwave, and PRF - (Plasma Rich Fibrin). These combination treatments are referred to as PRX Derm Perfexion PLUS. PRX therapy is available at their state-of-the-art office located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City and Madison, CT.
PRX Derm Perfexion Q & A
What is PRX Derm Perfexion Plus?
PRX Derm Perfexion (formerly PRX-T33) is a topical liquid that combines the effects of hydrogen peroxide, 33% TCA and kojic acid to immediately improve skin appearance and hydration. Treatment is followed by a unique at-home skincare protocol to continue rejuvenation and nourishment of all skin types. PRX delivers truly remarkable, age-defying benefits to the look and feel of skin without the peeling or downtime associated with chemical peels, injectables, or other invasive aesthetic treatments.
What conditions does PRX Derm Perfexion treat?
The appearance of:
- Sun damage (face/neck/chest/arms)
- Melasma
- Pore size
- Aging
- Prevention of dermal aging
- Skin discoloration
- Lines and wrinkles
- Scars (acne, surgical scars)
- Hydration
- Hyperpigmentation
- Stretch marks
- Skin tightening / laxity
- Exfoliation
PRX Derm Perfexion helps to smooth lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, and décolletage. It can also be used on breast tissue to help tighten and firm a sagging chest. It works in the deep layers of your skin, stimulating the tissues deep down in the lower layers of the skin without causing any abrasions to the surface.
An immediate tightening is seen after treatment with the added benefit of long-term tightening and lifting as the collagen cells are stimulated, resulting in firm, taut, and healthy-looking skin.
What are other advantages of the PRX Derm Perfexion Plus treatment?
- It can be used by everyone of all skin types, including dark skin.
- It is non-invasive.
- No extensive peeling.
- It provides non-ablative (not harming the top layer of skin) chemical stimulation of the dermis without exfoliating the epidermis.
- You may return to daily activities/work/working out without downtime.
- It is a comfortable treatment.
- It can be used all year, including summer, before special events or a trip as it is not photosensitizing.
- It works very well with other aesthetic treatments such as microneedling with/or without radio frequency, Clear and Brilliant laser, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Lightwave, and PRF - (Plasma Rich Fibrin) treatments to enhance results and prolong results.*
*PRX Derm Perfexion, when paired with additional aesthetic treatments is referred to as PRX Derm Perfexion PLUS.
How often do I repeat the PRX Derm Perfexion?
When it is applied with a specific technique, it provides nearly immediate aesthetic improvement and deep hydration. This means you will see the benefits of treatment in a single session. However, repeating the application of PRX Derm Perfexion once every 7 to 12 enhances the aesthetic effect. The number of treatments to maximize your results will be determined during your consultation.
On average 4–6 treatments are recommended for best results.
Is there any downtime after having PRX Derm Perfexion?
Remarkably, there is NO downtime!
Can the application of PRX Derm Perfexion be performed at any age?
Yes, PRX Derm Perfexion is safe to use on patients aged 5 and upwards. In our experience it helps in these ways:
- 5-12 years: scars (chicken pox, impetigo)
- 12-25 years: smooths the outer layer of the skin, including individuals with mild acne. Facilitates the function of the skin and corrects the appearance of stretch marks.
- 25-45 years: restores luminosity, firmness, and texture of the face and body It helps to prevent skin aging, sagging breast skin, and stretch marks.
- Over 45 years: Improves laxity, color, pore size, and luminosity of the face, neck, chest skin, and other areas of the body
* Please note that we will only treat patients 18 and older.
Is PRX Derm Perfexion right for my skin type?
Yes, PRX Derm Perfexion is safe to use on all skin types. There is no risk of hyperpigmentation in darker skin types. Those that are more prone to irritation or have very delicate skin will have fewer layers applied, and a more delicate massage is used in sensitive patients.
Those with seborrheic dermatitis, herpetic eruptions, angular cheilitis, or skin otherwise damaged are not candidates. If you have sensitive skin, you may react with redness or report a burning sensation during the session. If this occurs, the session can be stopped and cool compresses are applied to neutralize any reaction.
How long does the application of PRX Derm Perfexion take in office?
A face and neck application takes around 30 minutes, including pre- and post- application. If treatment is combined with other technologies, such as microneedling with/or without radio frequency, Clear and Brilliant laser, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Lightwave, and PRF - (Plasma Rich Fibrin), treatment times range from 30 to 90 minutes.
Why is PRX Derm Perfexion different from a peel?
Peels work by removing old skin cells and exposing the new skin underneath. This process can be more or less invasive - depending on the depth and aggressiveness of the peeling agent used, but all peels expose you to downtime (i.e. you’ll have to wait for the flakes to fall off) and risks(i.e. hypo- and hyper-pigmentation, infection). PRX Derm Perfexion Plus on the other hand helps to stimulate the skin to create new collagen, which gives it structure and elasticity, with no downtime and none of the risks commonly associated with peels.
How do I prepare for a PRX Derm Perfexion treatment?
It is important to discontinue the use of Retinol and other exfoliants 2 weeks prior to treatment.
*Individual results do vary from person to person. More treatments may be needed depending on the issue and skin maturity.
